Wish we were getting the i30 N... That packaging is much more appealing to me. Hopefully we will.

It might make my short list , especially if they can come up with a decent lease offer. My 2017 base model WRX leases for $2k down and $220 per month - this would need to be similar to be considered, and it would need to be very fun.

That’s 20 a month less than I’m paying on my E90. I should look into leasing

I like to be between 200-300 on a new car every 3 years, and that translates into a 16000-17000 car if I am buying at 5 years.
Only car in that range for me is a used Abarth, 2015 or later, and those can be had for 13700+ with low miles - under 30k.

Yeah and I would buy a different car every 6 months if I could, so a 2-3 year lease could be a good deal.

Same here - I used to be anti-lease, but at this point, I like the convenience and low monthly payment. I also don’t want to mess around with older cars much - I’ve had my fill of maintenance on the 2000 Tundra.

Absolutely I’d daily a Veloster N . I’d love to have a cheap, fun, warranty covered car to do my day to day with that also had decent cargo space. (I mean just because I’m single and work remote doesn’t mean I don’t need to haul bulky car parts around.)
It’s the “cheap” part the Veloster N is likely to fail at. You won’t get them cheap. Yes, it starts at $28k, which ain’t bad at all. But unless nobody takes up a Type R competitor they can actually manage to buy? (Remember, Honda is still playing the ‘keepaway’ game, so dealer allocations are slim. And of course, many of their dealers continue to pretend the Type R is a six digit hypercar that will only go up in value so “ no test drives.” )
I’m expecting these to sell above MSRP with no financing incentives. Just because people will be able to walk onto the lot, actually drive it, and take it home that day. I can see dealers marking these up $2-3k, especially since that’s still cheaper than Type R.

I’m looking forward to driving it, but I’m guessing the back seat is too small for my needs (at least these next 5 years).
I’m actually guessing that since Hyundai is new to the performance market, and no one but you and me and other Opponauts have any clue what “N” means or who Albert Biermann is , these will sell at list price or below (assuming they’re not in limited production).
If Hyundai NA is smart, they’ll pressure dealers to make them very available for test drives and keep prices in line. If this thing is a hit out of the box, that would bode very well for Hyundai’s future.
Hopefully it will sell so well they’ll have no choice but to bring the i30 N here.

Would I buy it? Probably not, but more because its not a
type
of vehicle i need. Were I shopping for something in that market, i’d totally consider it and it would probably be the first thing i looked at. Its a good car, I’d have no shame about being seen in one.
The i30 N is way cooler from a practicality/styling standpoint, but the Veloster is a solid B/B+ in so many categories, its hard to ignore.

Yeah, same here. the i30 makes much more sense to me, and I like the styling better as well. Hope it’s just a matter of time.

Very strongly considering one to replace my Miata as a daily. Haven’t got a chance to see/hear one in person yet but hopefully gonna make it to the LA Auto Show to at least see one in the flesh.
Also helps sway favor in its direction that I would get be able to get employee pricing through my pops.
